Please join us in celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Month and recognizing Victoria Day, our Support Group Facilitator in Columbia, Missouri. Here’s Victoria’s answer when asked “Why facilitate a Support Group?:
Being a BIA-MO Support Group facilitator is important because I want to be around, be supported by and support other folks whose brains work in unique and strange ways, like mine!
It is essential to me to provide resources, to offer camaraderie and a place where survivors can share their stories and feelings in a safe and trusting environment. We welcome all survivors of brain injury who show up seeking support. My true passion is to provide a space for individuals who have experienced a life-changing bump on the head, to join with other survivors, to learn that they are not crazy, and to know there are things they can do to better care for themselves and their healing brain!
