Missouri is facing a $2.5 billion budget deficit. This deficit has already reduced funding that resulted in cuts to vital services for Missourians. Less tax revenue can lead to more cuts to Missouri programs.

Revenue lost by eliminating the Missouri Individual Income Tax in Amendment 5, along with the current budget deficit, puts Missouri services at risk.

Less revenue leads to fewer services.

If the Missouri legislature expands the current sales tax on ALL services, the revenue generated likely would not be enough to replace the lost revenue from Individual Income Taxes.

There simply is no realistic way to replace the income tax revenue without expanding the sales tax to ALL services AND increasing the sales tax rate.

Everything would be taxed at a higher rate.
