Missouri state workers focused on helping Missourians with brain injury are encouraged to participate in the Missouri Brain Injury Resource Facilitation (MOBIRF) collaborative in their region. This collaborative effort is dedicated to encouraging coordinated and seamless connection of associated and partner services to help persons with brain injury live fulfilled lives. There are also networking and cross-training opportunities for state workers and community partners.

Through MOBIRF, early intervention allows healthcare, therapeutic, vocational, and community-based providers to work collaboratively, ensuring coordinated supports across the lifespan of persons living with brain injury. This continuum of care model fosters collaboration between various state and community-based systems, enabling joint planning and service delivery that adapts to the individual’s needs as they evolve over time, from initial rehabilitation through community reintegration and vocational participation.

As a State Employee, What Can I Expect from MOBIRF Involvement?

Quarterly networking opportunities with other state agency staff and service providers in your region
Annual, state-level MOBIRF meeting with other regions, providing an opportunity for information sharing, as well as discussion on successful strategies, service gaps, outreach, referral methods, and other related topics
Increased knowledge and understanding of state and community-based program information (e.g., policies, processes such as eligibility criteria, and service options)
Foundational and advanced-level educational opportunities on brain injury through MOBIRF partners (e.g., Brain Injury Education training, partner conferences, BIA-MO Speakers Bureau, etc.)
Active engagement within a growing collaborative of professionals seeking to share resources and enhance
Open sharing of information and resources in a collaborative network of support through MOBIRF partners to reduce the responsibility on any single organization

All persons with brain injury may use BIA-MO support groups, survivor and family seminars, and recreational activities. Additional services, such as therapies, counseling, vocational training, supports for independence, community living and employment, etc., will depend on your specific needs and resources. How long am I able to participate through MOBIRF?

The length of the supports and services you receive will be based on your specific situation and needs. Connect with BIA-MO to get started.

Will I need to pay for help from MOBIRF?

MOBIRF can help you get connected to the program services you need. Services within the specific programs may or may not require you to financially contribute. You will be provided information and support to make an informed decision about service options.

How long will I need to wait for services I need?

While there may be a waitlist for some types of Missouri services, not all services will require waiting for an opening. BIA-MO can help you learn about services with and without possible wait times.

I had a stroke, not a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Can I get help from MOBIRF?

Yes. There are Missouri services and supports available for all types of brain injury, not only TBI. BIA-MO can provide you with information to help you pick the right options for you.
