Death rates from stroke in rural Missouri counties decreased to 42 percent between 2009 and 2019. However, strokes were still the fifth leading cause of death for both rural and urban Missouri residents within the same years.
A stroke can sometimes cause temporary or permanent disabilities. Sudden signs of a stroke are face drooping, arm weakness, and speech difficulty.
