Congratulations to Kate Hwang!
Congratulations to Kate Hwang, founder of Adaptive Warrior KC Foundation Corporation, for earning a spot on the 2025 U.S. Paralympic Track and Field Team! Kate will compete in the 100-meter dash and shot put for Team USA.
Kate, a former Kansas City police officer, had her life forever changed after sustaining a traumatic brain injury in the line of duty. She carved a new identity for herself through adaptive sports, taking her post-injury challenges into a new purpose.
“Making Team USA isn’t just about competing – it’s about showing what’s possible when we empower adaptive athletes with access, resources, and belief,” said Hwang. “This is a win for the entire Kansas City community, especially those living with invisible injuries and disabilities.”
Kate will travel with Team USA to the upcoming international competition, 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India.
