The Brain Injury Association of Missouri (BIA-MO) Donald Danforth Jr. Wilderness Camp is a week-long organized outdoor experience, held at Wonderland Camp in Rocky Mount, Missouri for persons with a brain injury.
The need for such a camp was determined several years ago through discussions with many families coping with the changes in their lives following a brain injury of a loved one. For survivors, there is a need to rebuild their self-confidence, to begin to learn how to overcome new obstacles and create a new life for themselves. For the caregiver, respite from daily responsibilities and care for their loved one is occasionally needed.
The BIA-MO Donald Danforth Jr. Wilderness Camp is dedicated to assisting survivors. Activities such as swimming, boating, fishing, arts & crafts, sports, games and miniature golf are adapted to the abilities. Participation in camp offers individuals with brain injuries opportunities for fun, time with others with brain injury and relaxation.
