The Donald Danforth Jr. Wilderness Camp is a week long organized outdoor experience, held at Wonderland Camp in Rocky Mount, Missouri for persons with a brain injury and their families.
The need for such a camp was determined several years ago through discussions with many families coping with the changes in their lives following a head injury of a loved one. For survivors, there is a need to rebuild their self-confidence, to begin to learn how to overcome new obstacles and create a new life for themselves. For the caregiver, respite from daily responsibilities and care for their loved one is occasionally needed.
The Donald Danforth Jr. Wilderness camp is dedicated to assisting survivors and caregivers. Activities such as swimming, boating, fishing, arts & crafts, sports, games and miniature golf are adapted to the abilities of the individual. Participation in camp helps persons with brain injuries build their self-esteem and provides respite for the families of the survivor.
Make plans now to join us for the Donald Danforth, Jr. Wilderness Camp May 16th to the 21st, 2010! For more information contact the Brain Injury Association of Missouri at 1-800-444-6443 or send us an email by clicking on Contact Us on the left. Click here for a camp application.
