| The Brain Injury Association of Missouri (BIA-MO) is a community based organization serving persons with brain injury, their families, caregivers, physicians, therapists, case managers and others throughout the state of Missouri. Founded in 1982 by a group of parents, BIA-MO works through regional chapters and support groups throughout the state.
Services and programs are carried out by hundreds of volunteers who serve as officers, members of the board of directors, speakers, recreation coordinators, fund raisers and office assistants. Many volunteers are survivors of brain injury, family members and health and service providers.
The Brain Injury Association of Missouri, Inc. is funded through personal and professional memberships as well as contributions from individuals, businesses, corporations and foundations.
Senate Bill 202, which weakens Missouri's all-rider motorcycle helmet law, has been sent to Gov. Jay Nixon for action. If the Governor signs this bill, Missouri will have an increase in motorcycle crash fatalities, healthcare costs and brain injuries.
